The Ram 1500 features a best-in-class V8 towing rating of 12,750 pounds and a maximum payload of 2,300 pounds. Beyond that, you'll find a tough steel frame, and available new eTorque mild hybrid system in both the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 and 5.7-liter Hemi® V8 engines.
Another attractive feature that is getting its share of press is the Active-LevelTM Four-Corner Air Suspension with load leveling. It's a class-exclusive suspension only from Ram, which automatically lowers the truck at highway speeds to reduce drag, and by extension, increase efficiency.
Before we get to the warranty information, let's take a closer look at the capabilities of the Active-Level Four-Corner Air Suspension.
Performance and Capabilities
The Active-Level Four-Corner Air Suspension features five different heights for comfort and performance. The system works automatically, or if you choose, you can also control it manually via a console of key fob controls for easier entry or loading items at the tailgate.
Normal ride height (NRH) offers 8.7 inches (221 mm) of clearance as measured from the base of the door sill. Aero mode lowers the truck 1/2 inch (15 mm) from NRH. This change improves fuel efficiency by as much as 1% and is activated by the speed of the vehicle. Off-Road 1 lifts the truck 1 inch (25 mm) from NRH to improve clearance. Off-Road 2 doubles that lift to 2 inches (51 mm) over NRH for even better off-road capability. Finally, the Entry/Exit mode lowers the truck 2 inches (51mm) from NRH for easier entry, exit, and cargo loading.
The system features automatic load-leveling capability. For instance, when the system detects a trailer or payload, it uses air pressure to raise the vehicle back to NRH.
Rebel models are equipped with Off-Road, NRH, Aero Mode, and Entry/Exit Mode only. A separate button on the key fob lets you lower the truck manually for easier entry and reduces tailgate lift height.
